Has anyone fitted a denali sound bomb to a 1250 gsa with the nippy normans plug in and play kit? is it straight forward or an arsefest? I have looked on this site for older posts and the results appear mixed. My main concern is the body of the horn rubbing against brake hoses..How did it go?

Just fitted one to my XR, was a bit worried as had to remove the OE horn to make space, but works a treat!

I fitted one to my 1250GS, its tight, but follow instructions and its fine.

I have one fitted in the 2018 1200GSA I guess it's the same as the 1250 and like Delboy says it right but follow the instructions and it will be fine. Good bit of kit.

Thanks for that lads, I'll order one, give me something to do. bought the bike last October, rained non stop until March, then this covid bollox!

I've got one on my 1200 and it's great, the fit is a little tight originally, but once on and secured it is totally fine. I've got the standard horn connected to as I've hooked my soundbomb up through the EzCan. I have put a couple of bit's of lockwire on just for peace of mind in case that bolt or the Denali cast mount ever let go. It is also pleasingly loud :)

In fact, the funniest thing that has happened with it so far, as I am a manchild, is..... I'd been riding my R Nine T a lot, and then one day jumped onto the GSA, I was jut pulling out of our street, and got to the end of the street to turn left, a little area frequented by dog walkers with a nice grassed bit and a few trees. I went for the indicator and I hit the horn, and PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARP!!!!!!

What's funny about that you say? Well.....let me tell you.

Local girl was walking her pug (I hate Pugs) and it was squatting and doing it's damnedest to eject the last evening's kibble (Or whatever the ugly feckers eat). The sound bomb caused said pug not only to spontaneously shit, something akin to a BAOR soldier returning from 3 weeks on Osnabruck training area after nothing but compo for the whole time, but it leapt up towards it's owners arms........shitting up their trouser leg.

I gave a casual wave, and carried on about my business, but was pissing myself laughing in my lid. It was accidental, but it was funny :)

The soundbomb kit has arrived from the nipster. I'm going to have a go at fitting it tomorrow. How much bike did you guys remove to fit it? I have looked on youtube but the vids on there are for full denali kit lights etc. the bike is a 2019 r1250 Gsa. I don't want to remove loads of plastic if its not required to do so. Many thanks, Ian

Beyond a bolt and fitting the bracket, I managed to get away with routing the cable back to my EzCan without removing any panels, a bit of gaffer tape and an old wire coat hanger also helped.

I send back the "Split" - overly complicated and hard to mount. The single unit with the mounting bracket is much easier.:thumb

Fitted a sound bomb to my 1250 GS and it was a piece of cake, think i only removed the seat and the side panel on the right of the tank (as you are sat on it) as i wanted to get it as neat as possible... Probably took no more than 30 mins in total.. However, i did have the benefit of fitting it (and then removing it) from my previous 1200 GSA..

I'm no help as I fitted lights at the same time so I took loads of panels off. But doing both horn and lights only took about a hour with me being crap at putting things back together (good at the taking apart bit).

sorry to keep going on about this bleeding honker..I haven't got a manual for this bike and haven't worked on one before. I found I needed to move some plastics to tread the wires through, that took ages. then fitted the horn and bracket on to find that the brake hose fouls the horn body regardless of many times I tried..gave up in the end and returned it as way, total waste of day! How did you chaps overcome this issue? has anyone mounted it elsewhere on the bike? pulling what remains of me hair out!

Others have, however i mounted it where its supposed to be, and yes it touches the brake lines, but if your concerned just cut a piece of rubber and tie wrap it round the lines where they contact the horn, and all will be well.

thanks Del, surely at very least its an mot fail if hosed are rubbing?

I dont know TBH, but you often get rubber covers on car brake pipes that are designed to stop damage to the brake pipe itself when, say the steering is on full lock and pipe tends to hit the strut or whatever. As long as no part of the brake pipe itself is being chaffed or rubbed i dont think there would be a problem. Maybe a bike tester will come along and enlighten us.
