Afternoon everyone
Has anyone fitted a soundbomb to their 1250gs using the adapter cable ?
How much work is involved , any info appreciated
Mines a 21 plate

Yes, I have. Without hex.

Not much work at all, just make sure you get the bracket too and be sure that the brake lines clear the bottom of the unit. It's pretty much plug and play. The adaptor just plugs into the feed for the existing horn. Makes a big difference. The other week a car was making moves to change lanes right in front of me, just a quick blip of the horn and he wondered what had hit him and straightened up in his lane sharply. Think he thought I was a truck.

If you haven't bought it yet, don't be tempted by the Split - it's a nightmare to fit.
I returned mine and fitted the one piece unit via the NN bracket - easy :thumb

Both. Started without the hex, you need the wire adapter and cable, doddle, stupidly , and I do mean stupidly loud. Hex now. even easier

A mate of mine did this. I asked him the same. Why ?
I can count on one hand the times I can remember "blowing my horn" in the last 30 years ?

It depends on where you live & where you ride as to how often it's necessary to use it. Unfortunately living in the South, and not far from London there are plenty of opportunities to use it.

I live in Essex.
I cover 10 - 15 K miles per year on the bike. Non stop from April - October. Still dont use it :nenau

I'm not knocking it. Just don't understand. If I had something on or in my bike and i never used it, Id not take it again ?

Has your bike got heated grips ?

If you really need more noise, save money and fit a bmw 5 series car horn - straight swap for the GS horn and loads louder.
Probably £15 on ebay.

I have also done just this (after reading it on here ages ago). The e39 5er has high and low tone horns - I went for the low (£8.95 inc delivery) and the bike now sounds like a truck!
So cheap and straightforward it's surprising anyone would bother forking out for the Denaili and associated loom adapter.

Do you have a part number for it ? I could do with louder horns on all my BM'S

Sadly I don't, and I think realoem.com where all such things were listed appears to be gone, but there's lots of eBay that are the same across lots of models. The connector is standard and it will bolt to the existing bracket with a bit of care so that you don't end up with it fouling anything and the trumpet angled so as not to be a water trap. Search for e39, e46, 3 series, etc, and you should find a few - here's an example...

Realoem still works for me, I've just come off it??

I tried the denali soundbomb and bracket arrangement and after sorting the wiring etc found that the horn body was fouling the brake lines, returned it to NN. my bike is lowered gsa so not so much room for it. Is the e 39 as easy a swap as you suggest and is it can bus friendly? defo something id like to do living near birmingham with its superb drivers

The same low and high tone horns that are fitted to nearly all BMW cars and to all K series (Brick) BMW bikes, and all R series bikes for many years. Even my modern 320d has them. Would still fit the Sound Bomb to the car if I had time to spare. The Split version on the 1250 is fantastic.

Well I certainly found it so on my standard height LC, and I'm not sure a lowered GS has anything different going on between the fork legs. I just offered the (bigger) horn up in a few different ways til I found how it sat best, both to avoid fouling and so that the horn opening faced downwards so it didn't retain water. Electrically, it's the same plug so the car horn is a straightforward one for one swap to connect and I can confirm that there are no canbus issues.

I can't say I've had a lot of use out of it, but it is nice to know that if you do need to announce your presence to someone whe hasnt seen you, the recipient actually hears you and isn't left expecting to see Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner: "Neep neep!"
