Denmark, Sweden, Norway booked!

Woo hoo...booked my ferries today.
Harwich to Esjberg on the 19th June, Bergen to Newcastle on the 7th July.
3 weeks to enjoy Scandinavia with just me, the bike and a tent .
I've just got to keep from murdering my boss for a few months

If you happend to be near by Oslo a wednesday;
put up your tent at the campsite 5 minutes from my favorite cafè; Tyrigrava Kro www.tyrigrava.no - it's in the area where E6 and E18 are crossing, next to the little lake Gjersjøen, and the amusement park Tusenfryd.

I'm at Tyrigrava every wednesday evening, passing that campsite, so if I see your bike&tent I'll go and ask you to follow me - I normally do that.

In good weather there are houndreds of motorbikes at Tyrigrava; if you keep an eye on the road I'm sure you'll notice the bikes are passing.
Follow the bikes!

And;
get a good map; scale 1:300 000, Cappelen, get it at a petrol station in Norway.

If you are in the North of Jutland there is a lovely camp site that is very bike friendly at Dragstrup on the Island of Mors, it is quite small and low key, they are great people and it is highly recommended with a shop on site and Huts if you need to dry things out. They even do Pizzas and cheap wine! Camp sites in DK get better the further North you go.

I have a list of a few we have stopped at if you need ideas.

No just a little camp site near the sea, but it seems to attract a few bikes, the good thing is it has lots of secluded camping spaces so you have privacy, sometimes it feels like you are camping alone in the woods but with everything you need within 250m

I must admit I do prefer quiet campsites to busy commercial ones with thousands of screaming kids.

I totally agree about the screaming kids!
A kid-free and snore-free campsite would be almost perfect!

A link to those two campsites would be a good idèa, if you happend to find one... ...if they let Norwegians inside!

The other one I like is up by Skagen, I don't have a link for it but in my experience all of the sites in this area are OK just a bit more commercial, we tend to go Oktober time so a lot less people, however we did loose a carton of milk to the local fox one evening last time.

I have stopped in Fynn as well but it was bloody awful, the sites further south are always full of Dutch and German families that spend most of the time drinking beer and screaming (Parents included) or pointing at the B*W and asking what it is. I am amazed at how few Germans actually realise they make bikes as well.

I confess I will be making fairly quick progress across Denmark...really just using it to deposit me into the South of Sweden.
I've stayed in a cabin in the south of Fynn before and really loved the area. This time I will be stopping near Nyborg or Copenhagan as Denmark passes in a blur.

It is worth stopping on Fynn and then aim to get to the Fynn - Sealand bridge just after dawn, take a camera with you and if you are very lucky the low sea mist will be in with a clear blue sky overhead, the bridge just seems to rise out of the mist like a true stairway to heaven, it does mean parking on the hard shoulder to get the picture but do it anyway!

BTW they are running speed cameras on the bridges these days and since the speed limit changed in some areas to 130kph they are very keen.

Thanks for the advice. That may work out just nicely as I'm eyeing up a campsite at Tårup Strand for my first night. SHould be able to see the bridge from the shore there I guess (unless I'm in that mist you spoke of )

Did exactly the same last May. There are about 3 really impressive bridges on that route - they really would photograph well if you could find anywhere safe to pull over.

Greencat - I'm green with envy - did Sewden and Norway last year and had great weather and a brilliant trip - land carved by the motorcycle Gods!
