Dent all clear - 6th July camping fix soirée.

Waiting to hear from the George, but have this response from the Sun Inn;

Hello mark

You may have heard that the UK government has given the green light for pubs to reopen if possible from the 4th of July. Following the announcement, they have now published the guidance for businesses such as ours. Having read this document the difficult decision has been made to remain closed until further notice. I know many of you will be disappointed by this news. But with these new guidelines in mind, and the size and other restraints we have from a pub which is over 300 years old. We feel this is the right decision for both you as customers and us as staff. Once in a position to do so, I'll post a further update when the situation changes. Take care. From all at The Sun Inn

Lazy fuckers.

Very busy and pubs closed reduces the attraction a little. If it's sunny sitting with Tesco beer is fine but not crowds filling the site

I’ve just spoken to the lady from campsite, not Margaret, she said both pubs are staying closed at the moment.
:comfort

I don’t know what they can do
With the size constraints I don’t think they could have more than 6/8 people in there all equally spaced
Hardly worth reopening

Don't they have a garden?

Yep safe to assume both pubs will be closed, spoken to Dent stores, (licenced) they are open stocked with fresh meat, ham, cheese eggs everything really, Stone tea place doing takeaway meals , Meadowside doing takeaway breakfasts and Margret is also doing breakfasts,

Margaret says it won't be "Heaving" (Very Busy it won't be) she will limit numbers anyway, hoping the weather won't be as hot as last few days but forcast not looking too bad, and cooler is better for me!

Be good to get some rides in around the area, potentially has the making of a good break.

Spaces for B&B in Stone Tea place

Good to know we wont go hungry I guess I best phone and make sure arriving on 4th is ok

I'll be loading up at the Spar supermarket in Sedbergh on my way through.

Can’t quite see personally how people expect to use pub toilets, pub bar areas, without generously passing Covid to each other. This thing is still very real in and around us. I have known Martin at the Sun for many years through his other telecom business and I am not surprised at all that he has taken this stance. Standing behind a bar puts you bang in line from saliva spitting twerps who you might think would know better. How’s he supposed to pick your glasses up when you put them down, or handle cash time after time. The cross contamination and ‘hot’ areas are mind boggling in this situation.

I am aware of more than one person working in this position in the North West who has not made it through this pandemic, and guys at our works have attended the funerals.

Just sayin that’s all ......... :beerjug:

A good doseof reality there Roger!

You can get plenty of great beer in bottles or even Innis & Gunn in cans. Add a good bottle of malt to go with it and the pub will look less critical!

If I wasn't commited to a cottage at Tighnabruich I'd be in Dent. I'm supposed to be at a big villa in Spain with the whole family just now!

Blimey, you don't half get lectured on here.

I can't see Margaret doing that Mark, she has some lost revenue to make up!

She got a bollocking from the Council for packing them in at the beer/music festival. There were guy lines over guy lines and you couldn't have got a grasshopper between the tents

Only repeating what she told me, she also said enquiries were low a minimum 2 m spacing between tents
The current forecast is cooler and the proposed stay is into the working week, really doubt there will be crowds there should be nice, looking forward to it

It might be worth asking if the brewery is doing carry out polypins, if you get half a dozen likeminded people buying a different beer each I’m sure a good night on the ale would follow :beerjug:

You're right there JB ... only the Sun Inn has a beer garden, but it's a narrow passage down to the small bar. It wouldn't work for sure.
