depreciaton

the bike wasnt 11k with panniers an both packs total was 12,831 the offer ,made to me was 8750,I understand the vat loss but as i say it wasnt 11k, they had 09 same as mine 11,300 but to be fair they said they would ring me this week with an improved offer il wait an see.

Knock £600 off for the Panniers which you can swap-over.................brings it down to £12,231 new

So.................£12231 to £8750 = £3481

So a loss/price to swap of £3481 for 6 months.......................you must be either rich or crazy:confused:

£3500 to blow....................now I remember why after 2005, I never, ever buy new BMW GS's....................no matter how shiny, shiny and new fandangled they appear to be

Might as well stuff £3481 into an open fire and watch it burn, baby, burn:eek:

LUST.....................:green gri

Bikes and Women................no difference

And thats the truth, my pre reg 06 k1200r bought in 2007 for 14,400€ is worth approximately half that now, buy a Harley, the depreciation is less lol

Saying that I took the new GS for a test ride last week and was more than impressed :thumb2

Im def not rich, no gonna stick with what ive got, maybe zip it up a bit.

id keep it at least for a year, if the ducati starts to take sales from the bm im sure they will give it a major revamp next year, so your new 2010 gs will be worth even less

No way would I trade in a 6 month old bike and lose that kind of money for what is essentially the same bike with a bit more 'grunt' ;)

Is the extra grunt worth 3 and a half grand?

Maximum depreciation per day is in the first 6 months. :nenau

Why would you want to change a bike that you've barely even run in

Forget about the 'twin cam' bollix and go and ride it :thumb

+1 WTF how is 5bhp gonna gonna make you loose all that dosh, thats like the fireblade rider who has to have the new model cause its 1,000,000th of a second faster than the one he has, just ride the one you've got fella.....

If you feel the need to spend that kind of dosh get yourself onto the Touratech website and get some bling for the one you have :)

So....any news of an improved offer from Cannons or are they sticking to their guns.:mmmm
Have you tried any other dealer to see what they can offer or;as a subscriber, why not offer it on here for a price you are happy with.
Should sell if its a decent one as it's the start of the 1200GS owners riding season.:D

No doubt cannons will read this and make a better offer hoping you'll post it up here and give them a bit of good pr....:augie

it is interesting when people who ride motorbikes, a minority, snipe and dig about other motorbikers without knowing them or their ability....trading an older model in for a newer model isn't unheard of...and bikes nowadays tend to be seperated by the tiniest of details to the rest of the non motorbiking world, but to the 2 wheel users, chasms, it can get kind of despairing if you were to bother to listen to it.

go your own way:thumb2

Got a shock at cannons today, enquired about chopping my 6 month old 1200 gsa in for the new twin cam job, wait for it 8,750, the salesman never even looked at it ,Ithen pointed out about the thread they placed on here stating we will pay above book price,so when i finnished laughing he said il speak to the manager an try an come up with a better offer, not till next week tho as we are busy at the mo, sought of reminds me why went to vines last time.

Did you REALLY sign up to the myth of low depreciation???

Apart from that, fancy falling for the old "Emperor's New Clothes" trick and wanting to trade in your 6 month old GSA for something with an almost negligible amount more of torque and bhp !!!!

If you really have too much money and want to get shot of it, I'll give you £8,750.00 for it :augie

My g/f bought a Ninja250 two years ago for £3299, and just got offered £2800 in trade-in. That's what the price hikes on new jap bikes have done to the nearly-new market.

It's nice to have some good luck for a change :D

Not a myth - just depends how long you hold it for. A very quick glance at 2003 to 2006 bikes being sold shows 5% - 10% pa depreciation. That's not bad.

....if you've got more money than skill... :augie
Il treat that remark with the contempt it deserves i suppose you where born in the saddle :blagblah
