Derwent Dam today

They'll have got that dam wall top, level, with some new fangled magic lazer type thing....oh, hang on...it's 110-120 yrs ago...wow.

Aye well, luckily we’ve had a hosepipe ban all summer until earlier this week. Otherwise it wouldn’t be overflowing. 😂

Nothing more accurate than water level, no need for lasers

God I miss Derbyshire!
Severn Trent Water could do with spending a bit of money on tidying up the amenities the head of Ladybower. They’re a fcuking shambles. And the car park is like a motocross track.
Impressive photo, tho. 👍

We used a good old fashioned water tube level in the steel workboat building business I ran .
If used carefully , it is very very accurate over distance .
Caution is required though if the temperature drops to freezing , and antifreeze needed , as the gravity of antifreeze and water are different , and it appears to separate when left for a period of time needs tipped and remixed each time ( one is a mine of usless information 😂)

Cheapest and probably one of the most accurate ways of adjusting leveling pegs in when doing groundworks temperature permitting.
