There's plenty of options here to get around the buffeting if you do a search.
Torbinators and de-clit the screen (if there's still clits on the 09 Adv?)
Getting a small bit of airflow below the screen works wonders...

I had same thoughts so rang Touratech for advice on differences of Desierto 3 vs ADV std screen.
I was informed that probably no difference as the ADV screen was so big.- then told me it just really - looks better.
