Touratech Desierto 3....... Anyone got one on their GS/GSA?

I've had the hots for one of these for ages but are they any good?

I really like the Rallye look it gives the GS/GSA but is this terribly expensive tower of teutonic plastic and perspex any good?:nenau

Thought about this myself for a while but what put me off was the risk of cracking it if you dropped the bike - and such a lot of money :(

Also not convinced the screen would be very effective. Suspect its form over function.

I saw one on an 1150, and couldn't believe anyone could sell such shite quality stuff with a straight face.

I was thinking it would be hard to beat the standard GSA screen and winglet combination and i use the Touratech locking screen extender aswell which gives even more protection.

The Desierto 3 gives the bike a completely different look though and i like it.....!

Another thing to consider is that it's around £100 cheaper if you buy it from Touratech Neidereschach in Germany

It's certainly an 'eye-catcher' but I can think of better ways of spending £500 or whatever they cost these days. Good luck if you decide to go for it and you'll always get a big chuck of money back if you decide to sell it :thumb

That's the thing......£500 is a lot of dough and pays for a seasons motorcycling(service and a pair of tyres)

Exactly - I went through the same though process :flag

I do rather like the look that they give on those 2/3rd scale model GSs :augie

Touratech Desierto 3

After having a bit of a spring clearout and selling a few bits and bobs on here over the last few weeks i've been able to raise some spare cash and order a Touratech Desierto 3 fairing for my GSA30.......!

Looking forward to the new look aswell as fitting the fairing and trying it out. Although i'll need to make a few alterations to the cockpit area such as moving the GPS mount to the handlebar crossbrace rather than up on the original GSA upper screen mount.

I've wanted one of these Desierto's for a wee while now so it'll be interesting seeing if it'll live up to expectations.

Make sure you post a pic when it's fitted

got a desierto3 with the first GS i bought and i transferred it to my next as i loved it:D
as a screen it is so effective as it can be adjusted until you get it right for your riding position. it also transforms for the better (imo) the look of the bike.

as has been said it's expensive but if you can run to it i think it's worth it.

enjoy :thumb2

Thanks FP.

It's NATO green.

There's a GPS behind the fairing. Can't remember exactly where and how it's mounted but can check for you tomorrow.

Desierto 3........!

Tightened the last two b*stard bolts on my Desierto 3 tonight so it's good to go!

The installation wasn't as bad as i'd thought but there were a few tricky bits such as the two lower front fairing allen bolts that hold the Desierto fairing onto its subframe aswell as the two hex bolts under the fairing holding the instrument panel cover on.

If I did it again i'd probably do things a wee bit differently but it was ok, one of those jobs where you need three arms and a monkey or a least a small victorian kid.....!

Fairing looks excellent and in combination with the 'new' angular cattle grid headlamp protector makes the 'ageing' 1200GSA look more aggressive and individual.....!
