Anyone got a valid reason why the oil filler cap is recessed? It makes an excellent trough if your thirsty on a rainy day. Other than that someone needs a slap.

I`m assuming you`re referring to an Oilhead.

It`s to match the water retaining feature designed into the bastard fuel cap.

So you get water in your tank AND your sump......

The Wonderlich variety doesn't solve the problem - it doesn't stick out further than the standard one, but as soon as you open it, the water just flows right in!
