Hi everyone,

The GS1150 has always been my dream bike, and I'm currently looking for one to replace my 10 plate Yamaha XJ6. (Traded down to a smaller bike after getting myself banned on a Bandit 1250!)

I'm currently looking at a blue and white, 02 plate, 45k miler, which looks absolutely mint. It pretty much looks showroom condition. It's had a recent new clutch and been religiously serviced throughout, as well as having a few other useful extras including BMW system panniers coded to the bike key, Ancil light rack, Heated grips, gel battery and a few others.

Now, I know that well maintained GS's go on for plenty more miles than that, but at 45k miles, any bike is surely going to start asking for a bit of money throwing at it? At this age/miles, what issues do you think I'm going to be coming up against soon? Suspension replacement? Drivetrain issues? Gearbox?

Heart says yes, but head says no, particularly as this bike is going to be very difficult to actually inspect before committing.
At the risk of someone snapping it up before me, the auction link is:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....gory=9915&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_606wt_1141

What do you all think?

Kev

p.s. Love this site!

Welcome

Looks a nice bike but patience will pay off, keep your eye on the GS's for sale section or post up a wanted add. Should be no problems at 45k miles, if there's play in the rear wheel bearings it could be the crown wheel bearings, about £350 at BMW or £80 to DIY! Which is why i bought an 1150, i like to do things myself and i'm allergic to main dealer prices
Discuss it with the seller if you've fallen for this one that you'll buy it subject to it being EXACTLY as described, and if it ain't then you walk away with no hard feelings or negative feedback.

1150 gs

hi kev keep looking on this site if your not sure, just got 1150gs on 03 plate 24k on the clock meta alarm with coded ign key full luggage and usual extras £4700 imaculate condition, post add on wanted section you,ll get what you want good hunting.

After some discussions with the seller, I went for it! :bounce1
Hopefully going to collect on the 1st July.
If it's anywhere near as mint as it looks, and as the seller describes, I'll be a happy man. Already hunting for 'bling' for it!
