I've just received the latest news from Motorrad Central...


Motorrad Central Bishopbriggs is relocating from 1 November 2011

As some of our customers are aware, our lease in Bishopbriggs is due for renewal in 2012. As part of our review of the options open to us, we have decided to relocate all of our activities to our dealership in Dalkeith (just off the Edinburgh City Bypass).

Obviously we would prefer to be as close to all of our customers as possible but unfortunately it has not been possible to find the right premises in or near to Glasgow, to enable us to meet all of the necessary requirements.

The Glasgow dealership will therefore close on 29 October 2011 and all business will be transferred to our dealership in Dalkeith from 1 November 2011. We’d like to draw your attention to the following:

• There will be a relocation sale from 19-29 October 2011 at the Glasgow Dealership with some fantastic savings available.

• We will be operating a daily pick-up and delivery service for the customers of our Glasgow Dealership when they book their bike in for service.

• Glasgow customers will receive a voucher the first time they book their bike in to our service department in Dalkeith which will entitle them to a refund of their fuel costs (up to £15) and if they choose to wait, a meal at our favourite local Italian restaurant.

• Several members of the team are relocating to work in the Dalkeith dealership.

We are continuing to invest in the business and during 2012 we intend to work hard to ensure that we can meet the needs of our customers in the Central belt of Scotland.

Surely a sign of the times,not a day goes but there's news of 'credit' crunching.

Even if they are to lose some business,to cut down to one place ,cut costs by 50%. They can afford to shift a few less bikes.

But when you work out how many times a year your bike will need serviced or needs fixed or you buy a new one,on the scale of things will it really matter?Its not that far to travel.

And i don't even own a bmw

It was not that long ago (last 12-18 mths) that the talk seemed to be of the Dalkeith branch closing and Edinburgh customers having to make the trip West.

Hope the merger does not lead to the quality of service & availability of workshop time for servicing take a nose dive. However if it means the dealership can cut overheads and keep going in the worst recession in decades then it's probably for the best.

Other marques also seem to keep a tight rein on the number of Scottish dealerships; there are not too many Ducati, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Kawasaki dealers, etc in Scotland.

Motorrad Central!

It is a sad day for Motorrad Central and their customers through west!

I've dealt with MRC since they first started(2003?) and used to travel through from Dunbar without complaint so it was a bonus when they opened the Dalkieth MCE branch.

All I can say is that if it cuts costs enough to keep a first rate dealership open in the long run and provide the excellent customer service that we're used to then in these difficult times it'll have to be!

I wish them all the best , the attitude and set up of their Dalkeith branch got my business (and cash) earlier this summer for my new 1200GSA and I have no trouble travelling a 180 mile round trip for servicing etc .

No comparison between themselves and the joke of a local dealer I would have to suffer.

Really sorry to hear the news. Have been dealing with them since they opened. Have also had bike serviced at Dalkieth so at least there will still be a BMW dealer in the Central belt, but wish Bishopbriggs could have stayed open. I wish all the staff well and for any not relocating, I hope they get fixed up in a job soon.

I'll mis the coffee and scott a very helpful wee chap on parts , as for the rest of it ?, never could get a deal out of them on a bike, robbin bstards offered peanuts both times for my trade in BMW, both times I saved over a grand on same deal with Calterdon Inverness and most recently Wollaston BMW.
opportunity me thinks for someone else to get a franchise in the west.

I bought my first and probably last new BMW from them in 2003. A great place with good people, I can't recall having any complaints with them. I also bought virtually all the parts from them when I refurbished the bike this year. A shame to see them close but realistically it won't affect me much.

Just hope that everyone gets a job quickly, not easy at the moment.

I hope they are expanding the workshop in Dalkeith. I had to wait 4 weeks to get a service last year because they were busy.
Wonder what the deal is with warranty and stuff when BMW no longer has a service centre near you?
Anyway commiserations to any staff caught up in this. I heard good things about you.

That's easy - don't leave it till the last minute like everyone does each year.
From what I've heard there are no plans to employ workshop staff over at Dalkeith from the Glasgow branch.
The workshop team at Dalkeith have a fab chief mechanic with over 30 years experience on BMW's coupled with a couple of decent sticks in there too. Mikey who used to work for the Yamaha race team and young Callum. The work is of a very high standard so there should be no issues
