I've had an interesting experience these last few days in trying to book a ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe. Newhaven is good for me as daughter and son in law live 4 minutes from the ferry.

I check the price online for a sailing June, £65 each, did this on 24 Feb, I wasn't ready to book as wanted to try other routes. Came back to it on 26 Feb, price is now £81 each way, same route, date and times, bugger... So I check on my phone with wifi off, so just 4G, I can see the price is mysteriously £65 each way again, try to call to get the discount, but did so at 15:00 GMT, their office is in France and they all go home at 16:00 CET... arghh.

Called and booked this morning, a very lovely sounding French lady, the price now with old fart discount is... £65 each way! I've paid and booked as it's fair enough, but made me realise the need to only call or book online when I was absolutely sure of the dates and times, not checking the various crossing options. I assume this is something to do with cookies/trackers and other fu%$ry website uses?

I booked in November for 23 April 2026 Newhaven-Dieppe £128 return for 2 bikes. Phoned as I read on the forum that to get the old fart discount you need to call.

You MUST wear a tinfoil hat, too. They (who control everything) read your thoughts. This is particularly true when asleep or when dozing, which (as an older gentleman) will be quite often.

Be vigilant! Take precautions!

PS Yes, the website might well ‘track’ your enquiries.
