Hi

I keep getting the rear bulb warning on my 2005 R1200GS. However, it is intermittent and proving hard to diagnose. When the warning is on, the running lights appear to work, but not the brake light.

I am aware from searching the forum there are corrosion issues with the rear light cluster connection, but mine looks fine (assuming I am looking at the right bit that is supposed to corrode - three spade connectors rather than a distinct plug as such).

Any ideas?

cheers
Darren

Hi Darren ,
Mine looked fine as well ,until i disassembled the complete unit the
female contact points were very dirty . All needed Cleaned thouroughly.
Check it to see , its only a Half hour job.

As Civil has said: It was contacts in the bit what the bulb goes into that was corroded on mine.

same problem

Hi,

I had the same problem. I opened the unit up and cleaned the contacts and bingo its not had another problem since.

Best to remove the entire rear lamp cluster including the undertray access panel, clean everything, preserve and wrap in self-amalgamating tape or similar to prevent further problems and/or corrosion.

Absolutely hate "Tape" on anything. Sorta cheapens the Look .

the battery terminals , sorta waxie stuff ,,,,, ohhhhh whats it called.?
But i have sold the bike since , and cant tell ye whether its a success
or not .
