I need to disconnect the battery on my 2006 1200gs to connect heated jackets directly to the battery as they won't work through the aux. socket.
So my question is a simple one. Is it as easy as- just disconnect battery terminals-connect fused jacket cables- reconnect battery terminals-job done.
Does disconnecting the battery affect the bikes "brain" It used to be so easy
in "the old days"!!!
cheers

It sounds like you need the latest software upgrade to get your accessory socket to work properly again.

Russel,

The answer is yes/I've wired that plus my 2720 and my aux lights direct.

I use mini jumper leads. Go and get some wire with the alligator clips attached to the ends used with electrical testing units. Connect one end to the battery terminal and the other end to the bike leaving enough room to remove the connecting bolt and disconnect the main wire. Just be carefull not to disconnet the wire. I find this works and does not upset the electrical system. Works well on the car as well. This allows me to remove the battery from the bike and still have the electrical system connected.

Yes, but it's easy to 'recover' from. Turn the key on, but don't hit the starter button. Bike ready to start - in neutral, kill switch in run, etc. Twist the throttle through it's full range at least twice. Start the bike. This trains the BMS-K module to the full range of the TPS.

This procedure is also in your owners manual.

Yeah its pretty straightforward and all in your manual.
