I decided I wanted to do my front brake fluid today but couldn’t get the cap off. Was trying the string method I have seen on youtube to pull the lugs in but it just wasn't working. I tried screwdrivers etc. and was getting more and more desperate to get it undone and worrying I would damage something.
Anyway I had one last go really giving it some with the string and a pair of rubber gloves for grip and the cap gave way so once it was off I shaved down the lugs on the locking thing with a dremel as advised by the Old Mechanic on youtube and now it can just unscrew normally. After that I removed each calliper and pumped the pistons out and gave them a good clean, then pushed them back and bled half a litre of Castrol DOT4 through them. The fluid is now much cleaner and the lever is firmer so just the back to do now.
