Yes and no

In 15K on mine I only needed it adjusting the once and that was done at service anyway

Other than that you are correct so my choice would have been to run it into my very local Ducati expert mechanic and pay him a fiver

X ring chains with O ring construction fitted to today's motorcycles are much better in all regards than chains of yesteryear regular adjustment is not required as frequently as with chains on older bikes

I've had plenty C&S bikes and haven't found chain maintenance to be an issue
