Fool me once, shame on you

Fool me twice, shame on me

Fool me thrice, whip my ass I love it

Fool me f.... ah forget it, here's my pin number, help yourself....

Last bike due to issues BMW paid for the extended warranty as a sweetener, bloody lucky or I would have been faced with a £3500 bill for new shocks and switchgear at 34 months old at under 14,000 miles

Just remember as I found out to my (nearly my cost). The extended warranty is only as good as your dealership. If they fuck up the diagnosis of the problem then your fooking fecked.

My extended warranty refused to cover my seized final drive due to the incompetence of my local dealership. The tech (car tech with no experience of bikes as is the case with all the techs at my local dealership) stated that the final drive had seized due to a tear in the rubber boot. Warranty does not cover damage to rubber boots or subsequent damaged caused by them. No cover!!!

I had to work hard threatening the dealer with certain death after this and my final drive was eventually covered as a good will gesture instead by BMW UK.

The tear in the rubber boot had been caused by the seized final drive not the other way around which would/should have been covered by the extended warranty if diagnosed properly to start with (although they could still decline to cover the actual rubber boot!).

Needless to say I'm off to Rennes next month for my 12,000 service.......

so a life and death issue identified in 2013/14 is still not fixed on 2017 bikes!!!!!....

mine in 2 in September... but I'll be asking AJ's if its needed!

Checked with dealer this morning, mine built 27 June 2017 and has no outstanding recalls, so it has the revised stanchions.

I've been fooled three times although one was pre owned from a Honda dealer and I traded it in for a new one at BMW three weeks later.

Can't wait for the next time though! The Apple and Dyson of motorcycle manufacturers.

Being fooled and gettong nothing is not nice, but being fooled and getting something nice is OK. :D

And while your on that FD and shaft area, just to let you know was out yesterday, Shaft and Minto hole was hardly warm to the touch when home, and it was 27 celsius outside, and I gave it a good razzle. ;)

11000 miles, not a single fault, including no rust etc. Purchased the warranty nonetheless, for peace of mind.

I’m mulling over taking out extended warranty. Got until end of month to decide. Decisions.......not easy 😂

21000 trouble free miles since March 2017. I never take out warranty extensions on anything, I think they are a scam, others may have different views, but that is mine.

Whatever. I was very relieved I'd dropped my trousers and bought one when my engine was replaced four months after the OEM warranty expired. 29000 trouble-free miles to that point. :doris

On a hoover, TV, or microwave I would agree but not an £18k bike with known issue upon known issue upon known issue...

Case in point.

So far the poll shows what I would expect, it is is an insurance policy, The warranty is taken out buy those that don't expect to need it, it sits there as a safety net.
I tour in Europe covering 4 to 6,000mls per year, I take out the extended warranty to give me the piece of mind that when it hits the fan help is but a phone call away.
I have not needed the service so far. The lack of criticism on this forum regarding this service leads me to believe that either it works just fine or is never needed, fine buy me either way.

Exactly the same reason I took the extended warranty out.

But would you have taken the extended warranty out on Honda or a Yamaha. I certainly would not!

The MT07 is the most reliable bike made according to surveys....

I probably wouldn't either, it most likely is not worth having.
The full BMW Euro cover warranty is very comprehensive policy, getting you and your bike home if it cannot be fixed in time, if it was illness that stopped your journey they wiil pay for another rider to get your bike home, the same if you get yourself banged up for doing 100mph through a sleepy village.
As said before it is a comfort blanket ( a very wide fluffy one) that no other M/C manafacturer comes close to offering.

Hmm, [scratches chin] should I get an MT07 to replace my GS? Difficult choice. :D
No. However it is an example of other manufacturers offering quality products. The MT 10 or 9 will not be far behind methinks.

I bet the T700 will be mega reliable given its simplicity.

Bike is 7 days shy of 2 years old and still no contact from BMW about extended warranty, they musn't want my business

So 74% have had no claim or work needed, the remaining 26% are a noisy lot on this forum then. Still that is still poor in my view that 1:4 have had problems, I’ve got my fingers crossed and £500 in the bank for any work needed, I hope it’s enough.
