Hi,

Im considering fitting some alloy bars to my r1150gs and hope someone can offer some advice.
Can i fit tapered bars? i have seen a few R1150GS's fitted with clamps to allow fitting these type but havent a clue where to buy them.
Or would be better of sticking to stock diameter bars?
Can the stock heated grips be used?

Cheers in advance

Will be finding bars wide enough cos the standard GS bars are wide. The other issue you might have is the standard controls are on rubbers dampers so may be a different bar diameter.

Changing bars isn't an easy exercise at all. A guy called Ricardo Kuhn used to offer 'Ricky' bars on advrider. I've had a set of these in the past and they were awesome - proper 28mm bars machined to take BMW switchgear and provided with a set of proper quality bar risers. Sadly no longer available.

Current options are to fit the TT magura bars which I've also tried in the past. Not bad but not as good as Ricky bars.

Renthal and other 22mm bars can be adapted to fit but its not easy according to a mate who has done it.

Definitely a market for a good quality 28mm bar conversion kit for the 1150 - I'm just too lazy to exploit it. Maybe you could do it?.....
