My adv seat doesnt want to fit easily on my bike, i have to whack it realy hard with my hand to make it fit.

Fitted a wunderlich seat last weekend, that was even harder. I had to whack it with a rubber hammer!!!!

Is there any way of adjusting the seat catch? So i can take my seat on and off without resorting to hammers!!

Thanks. matt

If it's a 1200 Adv (you don't say) - could it be one of the lugs on the forward end of the seat, having folded over?

They are a bit prone to damage.

Aye, its the 1200 adventure seat, both lugs were good yesterday when i hammered my wunderlich back on!!!!

I dont want to take the bugger off again until im reasonably certain i can fix the problem, hammering my new seat in doesnt exactly make me happy!

Ta. Matt

Mine has always been tricky. If you have anyhting at all stored under there worth removing and trying it, mine goes on dead easy but odd things get in way. Ive bent the lugs a few times. Mine always needs a lean on to locate, always has despite me trying to make it fit easier.

you could well have the tool kit (what little there is of it:augie) in the wrong spot,or rolled up to fat/round, if you see what I say:D

Its the same with no tool roll in :(

In my eyes thats the same as having a car door i have to kick shut :spitfire

If you have an autocom or similar check the routing of the cables

Hi Matt Splat - Rider seat on my 1200GS was hard to fit from new. I had to sit on the bike and let my weight lock it. Always worried that a key would break off in the lock when unlocking. Fixed it by removing both seats, the tool kit and any other bits in the tray. Also the round rubber bump-stop. I then took the metal tube out of the rubber doodads at the back of the rider seat. This is the part that engages on the locking hooks. I put the bar in and out a couple of times to see what was what. It is much easier to see what is happening with the bar and the hooks this way. I then filed a small amount off the "noses" of the locking hooks and pushed the bar down into the locking position. Still tight, so filed a little bit more off. When the bar went in and locked easier than usual I replaced all the bits, put the bar back in the seat and that was that. Can even use the crap placcy key to unlock the seat. Use a rag under the hooks to catch the filings, and just go steady, a little bit at a time. Hope this helps.
