Hi guys,

i have an ’04 1150GSA – when i fill the tank up with petrol and re-start the bike the digital petrol gauge does not come on – then roughly at half full it starts to work again, but only intermitently

anyone have any ideas about this? :nenau

thanks

Reove the black plastic panel under the offside side of the tank.
Find the 4-pin connector going to the tank. This has the connections for the pump and fuel guage.
Clean the pins in this connector, spray with WD40 and reconnect.
Easy first step.

Certainly worth trying the above but if its behaviour depends upon fuel level it's more likely to be a failed/failing sensor in the tank I'd have thought. But eliminate the free/cheap/easy fixes first - bad connections can cause odd effects.

my guess would be the sensor is slightly bent so its only making contact on certain parts of the slider ,
if this is the case you should be able to adjust it

float Might be getting Court on the two black rubber pipes on the sender unit my old 1100 gs had that problem

wow - great reponses

hi guys, firstly i would just like to apologise for the delay in coming back to you to say thanks for the advice - i have been so busy at work - i will try the connections first and then have a go at the other options if no joy

once again really helpful advice - thanks very much, will let you know the outcome
