Hi everyone yet another question to the wise ones on this site ref the above item. Went to work on Monday after holiday so the bike had not been run for 2 1/2 weeks all fine no problem. I rained hard all day (But both the bike and me have been there before) and during the afternoon the gear display started to read as follows 1st = 1 Neutral = 0 2nd = 0 3rd = 1 4th = 0 5th = 1 and 6th = E as normal, this was the same all day yesterday as well until the journey home when it returned to normal except 3rd which flickered between displaying a 1 and a 3. Just one other point yesterday afternoon after a stop when starting it did not fire first time but cuoghed and the clock resetitsef to zero it's not done that for months. Are the two things connected and as anyone got any sensible sugestions?
Thanks

not connected Bob

Firstly the gear indicator - its the sender which is in the back of the gearbox somewhere. Easy fix for a dealer who knows what they're doing.

The clock reseting is just a glitch of the battery being a bit low 'cos it didn't start first time. If it starts to do it regularly then a new battery is the cure.

My bike did exactly the same after Mondays monsoon. Thinking it was a blown fuse I checked it to find it was alright. When I replaced it the info display (gear indicator and clock) started working again.

Try that first before heading over to you rfriendly local dealer :thumb

Yea wet switch...Don't need the dealer you can get it out yourself (bit fiddily) without removing anything else. I have done it a few times after over zelous jet washing. Or you can just let it dry out on its own, it can take a couple of weeks though.
