Nice dry week for once this week but yesterday my gear indicator started showing 0 when in 1st/2nd, 3 in 3rd and 4 in 4th/5th/6th. Before I start ripping bits off the bike at the weekend any kind person have any advice on where to look first.

Thanks in Advance, Paul

I had mine in 9th today,a first for me,8th is quite common though.

On the 1100,it's a pig to get at,so it can stay broke untill I've got to go there.

What's your bike?

You lucky sod, I get three 1st's then a 2nd or 3rd then nothing.

As you say. One day when.........................

So that's me lottery numbers sorted for the weekend then - if I win I'll get someone else to fix it. But in the meantime....

Hi, Just picked up my first 1105 GSA and that had a U/S gear indicator. The dealer kept the parts in stock and did it in about 30 mins. Aparently a common fault!?!?!

Mine went on my old 1100. People said on the site that it was a common problem. Dealer flatly denied this, said had never heard of it before. Quoted me £220+ to sort.

Oddly, I didn't seem to miss it so much after that.

Yeah, might have been nice if I mentioned it. 2002 1150 GSA with 53000 miles on it, I've had it from new and this is the first problem I've had with the indicator.

Whenever it was really wet, my 1150 used to go from 6 to 4 on its own when blatting down the autobahn. I think the up change sequence was 1 - 0 - 0 -4 -0 - 6 - 4 (The last one on its own!)

It's just water in the sender in the gearbox, which as already mentioned is a pig to get at..... It's also a well-known problem with the 1150.

Gear Indicator

I replaced the clutch on my 1150GS a few weeks ago. had great fun trying to plug the gear indiactor back in the correct position. Firstly it would allow the just to styart then when aI found a position it would indcate 1st when on first but 0 or blank for the rest of the gears. Tried for for aboiut half an houre eventually gave up. Once I finished the bike took it out for a test ride and gears indicator suddenly started to work properly. Seems to have a mind of its own. I t ahs not gone wrong since. lucky I guess.
