Started getting interference through the intercom and I'm having a hell of a job tracing it:(, it's like the sound of a crisp packet being scruntched (no it's not a crisp packet being scrunched before anyone says it!) I've tried suppressors and filters but no luck, I've cleaned and checked most of the electrical fittings and cleaned and refitted the main earth lead on top of the engine. Is there anymore connectors I need to worry about, particularly on the earth side as the only one I found was on top of the engine by the alternator. :nenau

Nope no interferrence with engine off or if I power the intercom from a seperate source. It's definately coming off the bike somewhere. Tried taking the feed direct from the battery but that doesn't help, pretty much running out of ideas. Does anyone know if theres more than one earth point on the engine and is there an earth point on the frame anywhere?:nenau

Does the noise change with revs, stay the same or just change a little bit when it comes up from idle?

It might change a little with rev's but not by much, doesn't sound like alternator whine or ignition tick, just a rustling, not that loud either but it does cause the mic to keep going live at random times

I had the electrical noise problem with my Autocom, an engine speed related whine. Some careful re-routing of the cabling away from alternator and HT circuits plus moving the earth of the Autocom direct to the battery negative did the trick in my case (ghost earthing?). Hope you sort it soon as I know how annoying it must be.

Maybe you could try moving the earth point?

Could it be as something as simple as faulty speakers or the pin connectors of the autocom corroding a wee bit :nenau

Forgot to add, for bike powered autocom systems they (autocom) recommend/insist a switched live, and the earth straight to the battery

New headset is fitted plus it only happens when the engine is running, all connectors have been checked and checked again. Live is switched via centech fuse panel which is relay switched off the back light. I have tried straight from the battery which makes no difference, plus all the leads have been moved as far as possible (without taking the whole lot off the bike!) from the alternator. I will try switching the earth to the battery and leaving the live switched though as thats one of the few ways I haven't tried yet. :(
