Disappointing result with Daytona and Motolegends

Need it to rain heavily again for another test!

We might try talking to GoreTex. They changed a near 10 year old jacket for me as it had started to leak, even though the leak was likely because I had crashed into a big thorn bush.

The construction of the Roadstars is such that the leak, across the top of the foot, could only have come in through the GoreTex inner.

Use a pressure washer at the petrol station? If that doesn’t mimic heavy rain nothing will. Film the entire experiment. Socks before and after, hosing down the boots, etc.

When I got my first pair of Daytona boots I thought they were leaking across the top of both feet. Not a happy bunny at all until I sussed that when I took my boots off, my wet trousers were dripping water onto my socks. Just a thought, but if that's what it is I hope you own up to it ;-)

They definitely leak. Back from the trip home yesterday, rain wasn’t even that heavy. They leak on the top of both boots, where the boot flexes as you walk. Not soaking by pretty wet and it was only a 25 mile journey and not raining all the way, either. Mrs Berin is not amused.

Pics taken, next stop Goretex.

Hmm. The old ones never did that, but I will suggest to Mrs Berin that you told me to check that .

Might also try the jet wash thing as per Zoltan’s idea.

There is a solution, one which has only just been touched on

Under SOG quality/acts ammended etc, your contract is with the supplier of the goods ...

Except when it comes to Goretex .. you must send the defective product to them

And look for F9, gortex review

Are the test results in yet?

The test results are just in, and you are spot on.

In a carefully controlled experiment, Mrs Berin removed a boot under observation after a rainy ride home tonight. On removing the boot, the sock was confirmed dry.

The other boot was then removed, sock dry, but it was then noted the sock on the first boot was wet!

Looks conclusive that the wet socks were due to wet trousers dripping onto the sock, after removal of boots.

First prize to Vern, for solving the puzzle!

Mrs Berin is now going to email Motolegends with the final analysis.

Brilliant result. I'm not going to tell you he secret of getting the boots off and keeping your socks dry, you can play that game yourselves :-)

I wonder how many people have sent perfectly good boots back because of that, and well done for owning up.

perhaps this thread should be renamed, "Motolegends and Daytona exonerated by Newtonian physics?"

Gravity existed long before “Newtonian physics” was around to describe it…

yet many motorcyclists, including the OP, remain oblivious to the cause and effect.

Glad you are not disappointed with Daytona or Motolegends anymore. Well done for letting everyone know what the actual problem was

Fancy, water dripping off things.
Well i never.....

+1 for having the balls to own up to that 🤣
I bet the pair of you laughed when you realised.

In a similar vein, on the owning-up theme, I also have a confession.

I complained vigorously to my Ducati dealer about vibrations from my (then) new V4S Multistrada making my fingers numb nd giving me "white-finger". They duly tested the bike and stripped the front end down, checking fork alignment, bike discs, wheel balance and everything else they could think of. Put it back together, after several hours in the workshop. Said they couldn't find anything significant - maybe it was a dud tyre. Suggested I try it for a few days and if no better, come back.

Separately I went to the local physio, complaining of neck and shoulder ache. Turned out I had a trapped nerve in the top of my spine - and that was making my fingers numb too!

Cue trip back to dealer to order large slice of humble pie...

Tbh, if you hadn’t suggested that we wouldn’t have checked, so thanks for that.

would'nt touch motolegends ever again , had bad experience with them several years ago over a leather jacket by roland sands , y2k zip issue . for me the word legend can also mean distortion of facts when i hear thier name.

There were a few sheepish looks in the Berin household.

Weird thing is, I’ve never noticed it before on any boots.
