Hi all. At 32K my front and rear discs are now almost down to the limit.

Has anyone tried any of the cheaper non-BMW EBC alternatives offered by Motorworks or any other vendor. The EBC rear is half the price of the BMW version. The front is about £65 cheaper.

Any views on quality or longevity?

Thanks.

My rear disc needs replacing, done 40k. June or july is my first mot so..its going to be painfully expensive unless I fk off dealers for my 42k service.

I will be getting mine from motorworks, their brake pads were far better than bmw standard ones. So I will grab a rear brake disc from them.

Be careful with non BMW parts, I used cheap pads in my old Dakar and had complete brake failure halfway down a long hill in northern Spain two up and fully (over) loaded, and decided then that I would always get gen parts.

Thanks guys. If I go the EBC route I will deffo get their brake pads as well. I generally use EBC pads from Motorworks anyway.

Sounds like a very scary ride down that Spanish hill!

Great review of the 800 in the Sunday Times today BTW. The reviewer loved the Triumph Tiger and thought it was the best bike ever made...until he tried the 800.
