I'm about to fit the heated jacket lead {Yeah, I know: Soft as sh**e} to the battery and seem to recall something about having to do something with the throttle twist-grip before starting up, after the battery is reconnected??
Didn't have any issues when I fitted my Aux lighting relay. OK, it was only disconnected for a few seconds, so that may have prevented a capacitor having time to drain down, but why are you supposed to twist the grip?
You have to do it so that the brain knows the fully open and fully closed position of the throttle potentiometer ... (or some such thing) doesn't stop the bike running or anything ... just mucks up the fuel injection ...
