I keep getting disconnected when ive connected to the net, Ive got broadband and it apears to be a totaly random thing. it may be once or twice in ten minutes or it might not happen for hours :eek
reconnects straight away but sometimes says ,"no dial tone" then connects anyway
Im a complete noob when it comes to pc's so any possibilities can you please reply in noobish terms.
This only started at the weekend, had no problems prior to this in 2 years or there abouts  thanks :beerjug:

Have you changed anything in the setup recently ?

Have you had BB for 2 years ?

Do you have a BB modem or a router ?

Does your telephone work properly when this disconnection happens ?

had bb for last couple of years, telephone line seams fine , got the modem thingy when i signed up,
as far as im aware nothing has altered in setup? im a bit puzzled
Can BT run a check on my line to make sure everything is ok with it?

Do you get a code number ,,,like error 680.?
I think 680 means disconnected (bleeding obvious).. I had similiar problems last year.I used to suspect someone was trying to phone me but I have had calls while online.

I now suspect at this time of year it gets a bit more windy. There could be a slight gap on the BT line outside.Sometimes strong wind can "disconnect" the line other times it may seem okay.

Does any of that make sense,??

Me

well it has been bloody windy the last couple of days , so thats aplausable explanation :thumb
im signed up ith Wanadooooooo, (wanabe) now owned by Orange with 1 meg download. its just that it happens at random. If it was that i couldnt connect at all, fair enough, or when i went to a particular site,Maybe, but its just so bloody random :nenau
next time it happens ill make a note of any error codes etc and ill post em for all you technophiles :bounce1

does it happen more at night?

was your service upgraded to a higher speed at the weekend?

are you a long way from the exchange?

I had this when I used the 'free' modem but it hasn't disconnected once since I started using a router.
Tony

ok, its happened once this morning, about 15 minutes after i connected.
Comes up with error code 680(diconnection).
Read a bit about this and it points to something like http? and settings.
Its stayed connected with no problems for last 3 hours.
When it disconnected earlier i had the phone next to me and imediately tried it and seamed fine.
Wonder if it could be the free modem thingy playing up?
Ive had no upgrades etc and no other changes made to pc
