If you are in the market for a new Garmin GPS or other items, its the Blue Light/Defence Discount promotional weekend on now with a further 10% off the already discounted Garmin items for sale, along with many other vendors.

(I just bought myself a Garmin cycle computer for my e-bike for £58.75 off RRP.)

Thanks for the spot - I’ve just logged into it to see the price of the Zumo nav’s and the price doesn’t seem to have changed. Still £450 for the Zumo XT.
Anyone know how to get the extra 10% off or is the Zumo excluded from the offer? (Can’t see anyway of finding out which products are excluded…)

I just checked, discounted price for the 6" XT2 is:

£476.99

Blue Light sent me a code which you copy and paste into the discount box.
This code further discounts the Zumo XT2 from £450 to £405.
Fantastic offer which I will be taking up - thanks!

Or you can get it for £430 any day of the year from Motolegends using 10% off at Motocentral and another 10% off at Motolegends using Price Beat

when you click the referral link on the Blue Light website it places the discount code into your clipboard. When you get to the checkout, paste that code into the box

you should also get an email with another link to get the code

this is not explained very well on the Blue Light website. As posted above, you should be able to get the XT2 for a little over £400

As Wessie says, you have to visit the Garmin website portal via the Blue Light website login to get the original blue light discount PLUS a code in your clipboard that you use CTRL V to paste into the checkout page for an extra 10% off the already discounted price.

Thanks - mission accomplished, XT2 ordered for £405!

I got my ZumoXT (not XT2) last time they did this deal for a couple of hundred quid, about £240 IIRC. I’ve no doubt the XT2 is a better unit as it’s newer, but they share many features and the XT is still being sold at a remarkable discount for those that can’t justify £400 on a Satnav unit.

XT is £266.39 with the extra discount so the differential with the XT2 is narrowing!

Neither is cheap enough for me to retire the Zumo 390 yet ...

I have an XT, 340 ,390 and an old Nav IV, don't ask :D. If I'm honest apart from the screen the 3xx units are a better sat Nav compared to the XT. If you do get an XT or XT2 its "faster time" option and how this interacts with Basecamp routes will drive you bonkers until you get used to putting in more shaping points than you otherwise would have with your 390 whose "faster time" option closely aligns with basecamp logic.

I just load a GPX file a knowledgeable mate has made into my XT and ride. We sometimes pull over whilst the two lead riders argue over who’s unit/which way is correct, despite them all using Nav 6’s with the same GPX loaded. 😀

If I get lost on my own, I follow the thing to the next hotel. If there’s a drama back home I set it to Calais and ride like fuck.

I’ve done similar with a TomTom Rider and a Zumo 660.

I don't bother with Basecamp, except as an archiving tool. I do my research on Google maps then bash each daily route directly into the satnav. I can do this using my phone for Google whilst supping a beer on holiday or at home if preplanning.

I exported some routes for a trip in Germany for friends to use, using the SD card then dragged into Onedrive. One has a Nav 6 the other an XT. The units rarely agreed on routing between the waypoints I had set. I much prefer riding solo!

The XT is nice and easy/responsive to put routes directly into. So from that point of view it might suit well. (y)

For a couple of hundred quid it was a big step up from my old 660 (which was a great simple unit but a bit slow).
The bright XT screen is especially better now I’m getting older and my near vision is slowly degrading.

Varifocals are a game changer.......though plausible deniability for speeding is removed. :D
