Anyone found a discount UK seller of shoei helmets, the neotec model in particular. Every retail outlet I have checked quotes exactly the same price to within a penny. Funny coincidence that isnt it?

No, not funny at all really. All products have a RRP , it is the seller that decides whether to use that figure, go above, or below. Going above will reduce your custom and hardly beneficial in current financial times, whereas going below the RRP can potentially lead to a price war, ultimately putting a business / businesses out of ....errmm , business! The middle ground is the safe ground where all sellers are doing the same thing.

But life doesnt work like that. Human nature is such that someone always tries to steal a march. I've been in business all my working life and to find all the sellers in a market selling at the same price smells a bit to me.

What does it smell of?

I couldn't get a cash discount on a Shoei helmet from Frasers in Gloucester but they were willing to include about £30 of other items as part of the deal. Win, win as I effectively got a discount which only cost them the wholesale price of the other items

Try bikers wear birmingham, just had two neotecs from them at a stonking discount nobody else could match!

Have you tried haggling with your local shop??

I was looking for either a Neotec or a Multitec about 12-18mths ago and my local Kawasaki dealer had an open day. I looked at the neotec but thought the flip down sunvisor wasn't dark enough to make any real difference so went for the multitec. Haggled with the shop and got a black multitec for just under £200 that included the neckscarf, nose / chin peice and spare smoked visor. Seeing i got it that cheap i then bought a black visor for it and sold the smoked one that came with it

Supposedly the importer is not allowing reductions. "supposedly"..
Your best bet was at the Bike shows, I recieved £120 of a Schubert C3 Pro

If you retail kit in the UK you can only buy your stock from the distributor in the UK who deals with the manufacturer in question - usually only one distributor per manufacturer...therefore, if you want to stock a particular brand you have to buy it from one source. That source will only supply if you play by the rules which frequently include no headline discounting ("it reduces the brand value") especially on the internet sales channel. So they do what they have to...use loopholes to discount (one-off events such as shows; occasional stock clearances); try it on (usually excused as stock rationalisation) for short periods of time until one of the competition notices and complains to the distributor - then the smaller retailers get threatened with withdrawal of their account and the bigger ones get a 'tut tut'; or...wait until someone actually contacts them directly and offers a sensible price...

...and if anyone wants a sensible price on Shoei, Schubert, Shark, AGV, Caberg, etc. etc. etc - PM me and I'll point them in the right direction. :thumb2

P.S. When I say 'sensible' I mean 'significantly less than RRP' - 'sensible' is entirely in the eye of the purchaser! :D
