I was heading south on the A429 towards Stow yesterday and hooked a right on an unclassified road towards a village called Ilmington, just about at the point where the A429 crosses the A3400. I followed this road through Ilmington, Mickleton, Weston Subedge, Bretforton (home of the Fleece pub, one of the oldest in the country), then Badsey before popping out onto the A46 Evesham bypass.

I'd never been on this road before and I can thoroughly recommend it. Glorious countryside and lovely villages, the road was virtually empty and it is 17 miles of highly technical corners, often 90 degreee bends in pairs. Take your time, get yourself positioned correctly and just let it flow. I had a right old hoot I have to say. Obviously it is a rural area so take care and expect slow moving farm vehicles to suddenly appear, fortunately I didn't encounter any.

Thoroughly recommended, particularly for any West Mids tossers as this is on our doorstep.

Mapsource file attached for those with Garmins.

I lived in Chipping Campden for several months many many years ago, and used to cycle this road on my way into Evesham or drive it with friends on the way to Stratford - beautiful part of the country, had some great times there.

CRACKING ROADS

............. good find , I'm familiar with those , and some of the villages in that area are gorgeous ..I was out in the car at the weekend , and stopped at Preston on Stour [ off the A3400 ] ........... beautiful little village , lovely houses and pretty church [ Norman tower , the rest of the church being rebuilt between 1753 and 1757 ]

Down some of the back lanes in that area are some lovely bike riding roads .

Also spotted this little corker in Swinbrook on sunday .........

Steve - why are you not riding these days? Have you sold the RT?
