Evening Folks, Im off to morocco start of october with the above outfit for first time. I have read through a lot of the threads and must say there is some great and useful information but im still confused about Jackets for riding. I dont want to fork out a fortune on bmw gear. Im starting to lean towards one of those off road body armour tops a simple summer jacket for
over it and waterproof jacket just incase.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated and if anybody has been in october and can say what the weather was like???

Cheers

Jim

It depends on where you will be.

While staying overnight in Plymouth waiting to set off on the Widcat Tour to Morocco last October I has a similar dilemna and made a visit to the HG shop in Plymouth and bought a HG '2Air' jacket. Armour on elbows, shoulders and back with adjustable air vents on arms and chest. Not waterproof but kept me cool while others were overheating. I was so impressed that I bought the trousers at HG in Edinburgh when I got back from holiday and will use the suit when I go to Corsica in September (with an unlined waterproof suit to keep the rain out)

Cheers

Jim,

You will have a fair range of temperatures on that route. Altitude will play a large part of the lower end of the temp range, probably the warmest place will be Erfoud.

I think that you will be okay with a mesh/armour jacket but you would be advised to take a wind-proof because it can be chilly in the mountains.

The ability to add or remove layers is as good as a well vented jacket in Morocco and the ability to have the layers to hand is important as the temperatures can change rapidly according to where you are in the same day.

Jim - the very same suit. Lightweight and well vented. I wear an EDZ inner shell top and I close the vented zips and this makes it absolutely windproof when required. The EDZ innershell packs to 'fag packet size'.

Boots are Sidi Rain Evo boots - a good lightweight touring boot but you might want a more rugged boot for serious off-road stuff

Cheers
