does anyone have a set of front discs for a 1200GS.I know tall order or where is the cheapest source. I have 2 sets of wheels now. Heidenau semi off road on the wires and tourances on alloys.but need discs for the alloys, any ideas

I got a second set of wheels recently too. I bought the ABS ring from BMW (about £35) and a set of EBC discs. Some people on here said they don't rate EBC discs, but to be honest there isn't much choice - it's BMW or EBC.

I put the EBC discs on the spoked wheels, and the original (BMW) discs on the cast wheels - the theory being that I use the off road wheels less, so if the EBC discs really do wear quickly as claimed, they'll get less use. Then again, using them in dirty conditions will make them wear quicker :)

So far, they have been fine.

Cost was about £100 each - yikes! But cheaper than BMW.

threads longer on 1200 wire wheel

 Mouse,
did you buy all the screws and paraphenalia from BMW. They quoted £108 plus vat for the discs?? were the EBc ones plus vat, yes £35 for the ring. I know the whole lot worked out at about £300 and also the studs on the rear wheel are longer on the wire wheel than the alloy

EBC discs were just under £100 including VAT. Not a massive saving over the BMW items actually, I am sure when I asked for a price they were more than £127 (108+VAT).

I forgot about the fixings - you need the bolts to hold the discs on, the spring washers and the hat shaped spacer thingy - 10 of each, this comes to about another £45 in total! Again I saved a little money by buying some other bolts, but to be honest they weren't great, and the heads (allen key) rounded a bit when I was putting them in, so I'd go for the BMW torx items if I were you :)

Not a cheap business, is it :)
