DIY 1250 Gsa Valve Adjustment

One point of note though. They have to be done when cold - so involves dropping bike off night before. I’ve only done mine once and think it was around £100.

It bugs me that bike manufacturers don't fit hydraulic valve adjustment on bikes because it's such a pain in the bum getting to them to check and if needed alter the clearances.

It's previously been said that bike engines rev too high for hydraulic adjustment but you don't have manual adjustment on Audi S3s or BMW M cars so this is nonsense.

Motorcycles use bucket and shim for very good reasons, first being reciprocating weight. S3 and BMW m5 redline around 7k, GS around 9k. Hydraulic valve systems will not tolerate this reliably. Shim under bucket is much simpler and super reliable, most of the time never requires re-shimming. Hydraulic would also add an inch or more to engine width or height. Unacceptable.
