Spent an hour in the garage last night .... and produced this out of an old Shoei Synchrotec visor......Two holes drilled in the screen ... utilised the pin lock holes in the visor itself..... two small black rubber washers between the plastics, and 4 self adhesive clear 'worktop savers' .

It leaves roughly and inch in the middle between the screen and the 'lip'
Been out this morning to give it a trial run... and I'd say for me its the best I've had it ..:thumb

Nice work :thumb2

Id be nervous drilling the sreen, no doubt in be measuring twice, measuring again, measuring again...before drilling:rolleyes:

Looks very neat Bryn....good job :clap

Now FFS get your dremel out and trim those bolts to length :blast

EDIT.......I think I'd be tempted to go for plastic nuts and bolts as used on number plates, but I'm not sure why :nenau

That was my next job ( the bolt length) trouble with the number plate nuts and bolts is the holes will need to be a lot bigger ..;)

Laminar Lip offer two different mounting solutions; either nuts and bolts or 3M Duolock. I used the latter on the Lip which I fitted to one of my old GS screens which, if anyone wants to try out, I still have sitting in the garage. The Duolock which is a bit like Velcro on steroids worked fine for several thousand miles.

Really tidy job, apart from the bolts of course. Looks better than lots of screens you buy.

:thumb2 pity about the bolts I know... Not much choice..they're now trimmed down to size. It'd be good to get some clear washers to replace the black ones

Thanks for the info :-)

I read your threat and did the same with mine ( 2005 GS with standard windscreen ) and I have to say its much better than standard , but the look hmmm LOL :-).

I used the visor of a old helmet I have.

I have already ordered the Givi Airflow and will get it in few days , now I just need to find the wings and the tobinators to finish it. Cant wait to see how it all works out. I hate the buffeting from the standard shield and I live in Iceland so its not a option to ride without any protection , normally quite cold here and often raining to.

Function over form :thumb:beerjug:

Swapped the two black washers for a couple of slices of clear silicone tube .... can't do much about the stainless bolts, but this doesn't stand out as much

Does it actually work?

I've had a few screens/combo's on a few GS's

MRA
ADV screen + Winglets
Ceebaileys
TT extender ( for sale at the moment)

For a DIY effort this does a good job ... Subjective I know..... i'm 5'9 BTW.
The TT extender does a fine job, but this does an equally fine job but for nowt. all depends on whether someone is happy to drill the original screen, and use a perfectly good visor ;)

I'm only an inch bigger than you and with an adv screen I cant say I find a problem that needs to be solves in the first place.

Some find it an issue, some don't.... the adventure screen is a good deal taller than the standard one....:thumb2
