Does the Zega pannier diy mounting kit come with a drilling template if not any advice on methods used to fit the kit accurately would be much appreciated

Yes it comes with a drilling template, but ignore it!
Only use it for referance, trust me.
You do not mention what bike it is for, but look here for more info on the 12GS.
There is a downloadable pdf that will explain how best to mount them.
But take your time fitting them.
Plus, have plently of ratchet straps to hand and also two packets of double sided tape.
Aside from that and despite what the pdf file suggests, I mounted one box at a time, not both together.
NOTE
Check that both the pannier frames are angled the same and are also the same height from the floor. Then mount the pucks to make allowances for it.
Only use it for referance, trust me.
