For anyone yet to discover it:

https://www.drivemodedashboard.com/

It was raised to me in a separate post yesterday.

Given what I have seen so far I'm really keen to try it in this sort of setup:

I'd be keen to hear from any members who have this or a similar setup already. In particular the view of both tft and tablet from the riders perspective. With regards to how much the tablet covers/hides the main tft etc, if indeed it does at all. And also general thoughts on long term use etc.

Its a frontend, not a nav system as such ..

It may be beneficial with the Carpe iter controller or the wonder wheel link dongle that they do

The Beta version is slicker, but wont work with external SD cards ( they say its the tablet hardware, but it isnt, its the DMD2 software ;)

TBH, i found it just as easy to use a generic nav proggy and stick with that

I don't know if it's a feature of the Beta or not but it will do turn by turn directions now in-app. I'd call that a nav system not a front-end.

But cyber is my game, not engineering so who knows.

On that note though, I tested the dmd2 turn by turn sat nav earlier and it mostly works well though is very slow to re-calculate when I purposely took a wrong turn. I wouldn't want to rely on it in say a busy city for example.

Join the DMD2 Discord should help too.

I have been using it and trying to like it, but has quirks. I have osmandpro for a year too and will test side by side.

If you've used Google maps you'll find the turn by turn lacking all based on my initial use.

I am waiting on the adventure Controller so that I don't have to reach for the device to make any changes to destinations etc.

Just thought I'd drop an update in here.

I went down the DMD2 route in the end. I'm not at all disappointed, sure it has its quirks and glitches but it's a developing piece of software (app/frontend....whatever you want to call it) but crucially the dev team are poo hot at replying and pushing out updates.

It's got some way to go before it's quite perfect but it's certainly well on the way to getting there. And having an android tablet as the base operating system means I can switch to Garmin Explore, MRA, Google Maps whenever and I have things like ioverlander, TET and a ton of other apps at my fingertips and right in my view when I need them too.

My setup:
- Samsung Active Tab 3
- Brodit lockable case
- Wunderlinq 2 (this provides OBD and Wonderwheel control of some apps on the tablet)
- a quadlock water resitent usb-c cable

I beg to differ, they blamed a feature not working on Android making a change ...

I sent the screen shots showing it was not Android , but there Beta app ...

No response from the dev team !

Navigation works well. It's not Google maps level but it works and is effective. Some reports that re routing takes bit too long but otherwise it does what it says on the tin. I also like how you can switch between street level routing and following a gpx track for off tarmac stuff.
