Do Adventure panniers leak

No they don`t. I`ve ridden in all the recent rains and not a drop of water has got in:thumb

In fact the seal is so good on mine that I sometimes have to use a tyre lever to open them at height:eek:

I`m sure someone will be along in a minute say theirs are like seive`s:augie

Mine did......

But I have just had them replaced under warranty by those brilliant guys at Vines!

mine will seal shut after descending from altitude or cooling. the vacuum can be so great that i need to use a tool to open them.

they still leak though

My topbox is great, doesn't leak at all and there's hiss as it opens, like the doors in Star Trek :clap

The panniers (bought later) leak in heavy rain and there's a puddle in the bottom (rather like pictures of yours that Ive seen, Cookie).

The only way round this is the BMW liners that are totally waterproof and very robust. They are also really handy for unloading your panniers - open up and pull the bag out :thumb

the panniers may leak, and i can't say i'm happy about it, but the bmw liners are superb bits of kit.

they don't leak and are so versatile. in the pannier, strapped on top, or slung over my shoulder :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

I filled mine with beer recently to go back to a campsite from the supermarket. Bloody things had leaked all the cans by the morning.:nenau

(Havent let in any rain or surface water at all so far.)

BMW std issue aquarium

Bikes off to CW's tomorrow for a service and some warranty work so i've saved a puddle for them in the my top box. :thumb2
Currently sitting pretty at 6mm deep after one week of mild wet weather...

I'll see what they say...probably drill a hole or three :augie

Aye the same thing happens to me :D All the ring pulls seem to have magically popped open of their own accord by morning Have no idea why this happens :augie

A more truthfull account:D

Haven't tested it myself, but I understand that the panniers are particularly susceptible to leaking when fully loaded. They're cantilevered off the frames (rather than supported from below like on the 1150GSA?) which cause them to flex when loaded. The pannier top doesn't flex to the same degree which ultimately leads to the leak.

I'll be testing mine in a few weeks on a long trip. When (if) they leak, I intend to return them to the dealer for the revised seal. Either way, I use them with waterproof OEM liners to be sure.
