Att, just go ride one, not everybody gets on with the telelever front end ?
bar that you really can't go wrong, as long as theres some sort of service history either by dealer or individual, there easy to maintain, plenty of good examples about at good prices as well.
as for residuals, I bought a 1100GS from this site about 2 years ago for 3500 I traded it in last year for the 1150GSA and the dealer gave me 3500 as a trade in, a yearish riding and got back what I paid, yeh ! residuals are good but there not as good as they used to be, of the current telelever generation, you now have 3 engine sizes, with 2 varients of the 1150 and 3 of the 1200, so there quite a lot out there so prices are good at the mo'

The best research you can do is GO RIDE ONE, do not listen to all the bollox you read in the bike mags ect, ride one & then draw a conclusion based on that evidence only....what more do you really need, sometimes we need to get away from the quarter mile times, top gear roll on tests, top speed testing ect.All that crap is rather sterile & does not equate to riding in the real world.

BMW made aircraft for their country amongst other things. Ironic that Rolls-Royce did the same for theirs and now their vehicles division is owned by BMW. VW werke (now Bentleys owners, also ironically) had a far greater involvement with the Nazi's, yet I drive one and my family are from Poland originally. Go figure. I'd never rudely associate anyone I didn't personally know with murder, torture or genocide in public.
So walking into a BMW Motorrad dealers in Germany and asking the salesman for "one of your finest Nazi staff bikes please" won't cause offence then?? I think you might be invited to leave the dealership, you may even be invited for a chat with the Police.
As for being pompous, I work in the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars factory at Westhampnett near Goodwood from time to time which is staffed by a LOT of decent German people. They wouldn't find the N word funny and I certainly wouldn't embarrass myself or them by using it whilst on site, not even as a (misguided) joke.

I'm not suggesting walking into the BMW Munich dealership fully togged out in a black shirt and a swastika ... somewhat illegal in Germany.
But I think think you are being oversensitive about something , at least the modern germans, have moved on from.
Comments about "Don't mention the war" bring very bored looks from them ... but they are happy to discuss the NAzi regeme and how it has shaped modern Germany .....
And they even respond the the English football call of "Two world wars and one world cup" with "Three world cups and one world Pope" ...
Lastly, even the Germans are happy to taunt the Dutch with the chant " Drie Dag" ...
So I would suggest we all have a little black humour within us ....

To be honest yes I am a little...But I genuinely wanted an answer to my serious question, I always do research on the next purchase and nothing better than talking with the owners.
The fact that I have a reputation on another couple of forums is a pain in the arse to be honest again...This reputation is bourne from the insular, blinkered and unimaginative sector of society...The sector where the Govt. have had a huge success with the current brain-washing programme on offer
I do think freely and it appears somewhat differently to the majority, I have yet to see the damage it has done to others, I only see the damage it has done to myself, but I can live with that, I put it down to the ignorance of others.

Seems that may have been a little remiss of me, so to all those peeps that are still stuck in the 20th centuary and still feel that it is a little taboo to mention the word "Nazi"....I do apologize, but at the same time I urge you to indulge in a little counselling...It may be just what you need.

att, I have had all sorts of bikes in 23 years of riding, my two favs have been the gsxr1100h and my gs1150 adv.
up until I got the adv I was riding about 3000 miles a year, I have had the adv a year and I have done 12000 miles on it !!!!!!
I hadn't done any off roading until I bought the adv and now I'm out on it whenever I can. pop along to the west midlands forum and look up my threads, you will see more of what we get up to.
I also rode the adv two up with luggage all the way to croatia and back, 3500 miles in two weeks, around the alpine passes the k1200s' were struggling to keep up, with twice the horsepower
I just love riding my adventure and that was an emotion sadly lacking from my biking in recent years, it has certainly put the smile back on my face
go and take one for a test ride, and then go and buy an older one that you don't mind taking off road and putting a few dinks in, trust me you'll love it
