If its the DATATOOL TRAKKING ADVENTURE, make sure its the one with a proximity key fob and not the one which only has an app to disarm it (or turn on ignition). If its the one with only an app on your phone, it will drive your crazy. My brother has the app only to disarm or turn the ignition on, with text message when bike is moved without deactivating (I think you get about 30 or so free a year). He puts a cover on the bike, to protect it from dust etc and prying eyes. When he wants to deactivate it with a cover on, he has to use the app, every time he does this, then takes the cover off, its sends a text about unauthorised movement. If you try and remove the cover, to turn the ignition on to deactivate, it also sends a text message! Eats away the free text messages in no time and to add more text messages to the subscription, its very expensive. He has spoken to Datatool about this on numerous occasions, and the crux of the matter is, even though he has used the app, if the tracker is in sleep mode, as it would be if its been parked up over night, it needs the ignition turning on, to wake it to receive the message from the app to deactivate!
So if it doesn’t have proximity key fob, don’t use a bike cover and whenever you move the bike, always make sure you’ve turned the ignition on! I was thinking of having one, but his experience put me off. His was free with his Honda, but when you think about the annual subscription and maybe additional texts after the first year, it works out a lot more than the £90, if you let the subscription lapse!
Don’t have any experience with the latest Tracking Adventure S5, but looking at their website, it has a proximity fob, so as long as you have the key near the bike, then I guess it wont have the same issues.
