Do RT's go wrong too ?

Ok, I'll admit I'm not into the techy stuff. After three and a half years of GS12 ownership, I am thinking of trading up (?) to an RT. Comfort has moved up my priority list! This forum is full of scary stories about what can go wrong with GS's, especially when out of warranty. If the RT shares the same engine, canbus system, ABS etc etc, do they also suffer the same problems?

I'm sure Iread only yesterday that an RT had fuel pump controller failure, but I can't remember what website it was.......
But if you go to any bike forum, there will be tales of fails...... even Honda XR forums!

What do you mean moving up to an RTI would have thought you are moving down as this is a road bike and does not ride as well as the GS.

When I had my HP2 I also had an 1200rt. While the RT was fun for awhile I missed the all round riding of the GS. I now have a 08 1200gsa and what a great bike.

The RT has most of the same components as the GS. So why not just buy a new GS

The main mechnic at my local dealer told me this evening that all of the R1200s suffer from the fuel pump controller problem. A few weeks ago they ran out of units due to the number of bikes coming in that needed replacements ...!

If I lived a little nearer the autoroute I weould have an RT but as I have to cover soom poor roads and lots of twisty corners to get through the town I have a GS. BMW make over 20 models now; There is a good selection of those having the 1200cc boxer engine - but they all appeal to different types of customers.
