Got a new Shoei Hornet (early Christmas gift) & it feels a bit tighter compared to my old Arai, do they loosen up after a few 1000 miles or will it allways be a bit tight ? Otherwise a great helmet quality wise :D

I think you're thinking of shoes....:blast

My Hornet hasn't loosened off in four years of use. :nenau

Bollox, I'll need to sell it then, you'd think a 57-58 Med Shoei would be very similar to a 57-58 Med Arai, smart helmet as well

Ahh no...you see, you should have asked......:blast

I take a Med in an Arai but my Hornet is a Large.

Mine didn't loosen-up; despite the assurances of the shop assistant. I resorted to getting thinner cheek-pads which solved the problem for me.

Strange one this, im on my second multi-tec and they have both loosened with use. you would think a manufacturer would use the same padding for all lids.

Mine too! Really noticed the difference when I tried on a new one purchased on this site.

My Shoei Raid was a bit tight at first but it's fine now. It's about six years old though so perhaps my head's shrunk - my brain certainly seems to have less cells now! Seriously though, it took about a year to become properly comfortable after more than an hour's riding.

Yes - before someone tells me I'm sure I should have changed it after two years in case the UV degraded it, but I also ought to wear dayglo, never filter, and never exceed the speed limit too :thumb

My Shoei was a bit snug when I first tried it on. Next size up was a bit too loose. However, with the Raid II you can swap the cheek pads for a different thickness. I went for 2mm thinner pads, giving an extra 4mm width which has made the helmet a better fit.

Can you swap pads with your Shoei model?

Yes, I think they're about £40 a pair, if I can't sell it I may invest in thinner pads :rob

seems a lot - I paid £15 from Racevisors.co.uk for Raid2 pads - however, they don't list pads for the Hornet. Perhaps email them to see if they can get them.

Name the price and put up some photos.

Tanneman I'm currently working in the middle of the North Sea & will be home on the 5th Jan, I'll post post photo's etc when I get home as photobucket etc is blocked out here :blast
Price will be around £225 delivered in original box with instructions, chin curtain, cloth bag & new pinlock antifog insert.
Size Med 57-58 Matt black never been worn on bike, still has the plastic sticker etc on the visor. I've worn it for a couple of hours around the house but it's a tad too tight :eek The wife will not be happy

my tour x3 was too tight round the cheeks. rather than spend £30 odd on slimmer pads i removed the covers and trimmed down the foam pads with a knife.
bingo, sorted

I agree, my Multitec loosened up nicely after a few weeks.

Now the most comfortable lid I ever had.
