hi all,
i have had my gsa1250 for a week now and have put 400 miles up so far, been keeping the revs below 4k for the most part and sticking to the b roads round me , but on the occasions i have taken it up to 5 or 5.5 k on overtakes etc just briefly,, it seems to get rather coarse and gravelly feeling to the engine , i have it booked in for its first service next week so will mention it to them, but just thought i would ask your collective experiences ,do they get smoother with miles or after first service ?? other than that i am enjoying the bike,
thanks in advance :beerjug::beerjug:

It will get smother as you rack the miles up , once the first service is done it will better and also you wont be concentrating so much on the revs and start to enjoy the bike.

With my Boxers I have found they will pull a higher gear at lower revs as they loosen up. The 1250 puts vibrations through the pegs if you pull too high a gear. Seems to come from the transmission. 4000rpm and its very smooth. Rubbers on the pegs make a difference to the 'roughness'

Everyone of my Water Cooled GS's have got smoother with more miles, that being a few thousand miles.

It will get better once you can use it properly.

I don't feel any vibes through the pegs, but there's certainty more vibes at cruising speed on the 1250 than there is on the 1250, despite bar weights and grip buddies. It's the one downfall of a far superior engine and gear shifter.

never had a new one, but had a new engine. and the buzz was very alarming. 3K in and its a lot better now :)

Yes loads smoother with miles . However I found my 1250 much smoother from the outset to the 2016 1200 it replaced . Did 400 miles on it yesterday and had just had it serviced , lovely and smooth and so quick :thumb

Why on earth are you riding it at only 4k.

because i am old school and have some mechanical sympathy while running in, and its my bike so its my call,

went out this morning and for the first time selected dynamic , have been in road up till now and promised myself i would save the delights of dynamic till after first service was done, but couldnt resist ,,, thing is it feels quite a bit smoother in dynamic, or maybe its just getting better,,

Days of running in on modern engines is not so important. Twist that throttle...

I feel your pain.

2019 GS with 10k traded in 10 days ago, smooth and slick.
New 2021 GSA picked up, now with 500 miles on it, clutch seems to be binary, it’s on or off, no feathering and throttle is *very* responsive. Also, some clearly limiting throttle functions to be unlocked…
First service being done this week. I know things will get better, just the settling in process.
