I've read many threads both here and on other owners site and it appears that no matter what bike we buy, it's never good enough in some aspect.
Now I'm as guilty as the next man with this I would fear. My GS screen is as noisy as hell, so straight away I'm looking into somehow modifying / replacing it. Chances are I'll do something with the seat as well for more comfort on long hauls.
However, I do feel that the GS I've just bought is quite possibly, to me, AND!, if it keeps running, nigh on the perfect all round bike for me.
Yes, an RT or LT would no doubt be better for long touring trips, but then I'd not just get out on one of them and go for a blast down some cow pat laden back road. They're just too big and heavy, in my opinion, for use as a hooning bike.
An R1 or a FZ1 would no doubt give me more of a buzz for those days when you want to wring a bikes neck with acceleration, again though the above point stands, though in these things cases they're just too bloody quick for little old me.
So I reckon, that unless I win the Lotto, I've probably got one of, if not the best all round bike available.
Is there a bike out there that's better at doing everything?
