Do you love your R1150GS?

I agree with Fanum (for a change!)

Guys, if you don't want to participate in this, then fine.

But what's the value of saying 'go and test one yourself', as if you're being abused somehow by being asked your opinion, when the aim of this particular article is clearly more to do with "what real 1150GS owners think of their bikes".....??

If it was the other way round, if an article appeared based on a journo's opinion of living with a GS, this site would be a frenzy of comments like 'why don't they ever consult the guys that actually own these bikes..'

^^ Bingo

Since none of us have a longterm GS, 1150 or 1200, any feature made up of our experiences wouldn't be a true reflection of your bike. If you don't want to have any input that's fine, but I know if someone was asking about say my GSX-R600k1 that they'd have to tell me to shut up about it, anyone love their GS that much?

And Mutley, thanks for your contribution, definitely the best written by a country mile!

Well said that man and welcome to the forum Khal....I'll be filling in your questionnaire and will be pleased to give you my input. I hope you get lots of responses that will enable you to produce a comprehensive and informative article.

Blmey, you got a 'D'........did better than me then :clap :clap :D

Agreed, it's a nasty little plan that picks on bikers as an easy target.

The only thing I will say is that quite a lot of it is self inflicted. For years bikers have been fitting the loudest exhausts possible, and the backlash is starting to build.

Anyone read our feature on the UN demanding quiet exhausts? Chilling stuff.

I can understand people wanting places to be quiet, it annoys me to hear boy-racers with loud exhausts - I don't see that people would differentiate between loud bikes and loud cars - and it's easier for this person to propose banning bikes rather than banning loud cars - I'm not saying it's right for one second - but I can sort of see the point.

The only way things are going to change is if people leave standard exhausts on, or fit aftermarket ones that are still not too loud, and don't ride like tits in populated places.

Yes it's not everyone but those who do are in danger of spoiling everything for the rest of us. If we don't self regulate it'll be taken out of our hands.

Hi Khal, when will you be doing this article on 1200GS's?

I've just finished this months mag and whilst I enjoyed it I can't help but notice a contradiction here

In this months mag two writers have had accidents and one got banned for doing 150mph! :nono Interesting!?!

Ahh, well that ban was in New Zealand and was 150kph, and Si Weir is a RoSPA instructor, I can't think who the other crash is?

Well I never really have a R1150GS, but for sure I love my R11GS and my hand made and very Pennytech Project call Golem..

Here you can find a few pictures of my S.U.V.

It was 230kph (which I think converts to 150mph)- 130kph over the limit. The other was Rod Gaskell!

I hope both are well

If I'm bored later I'll fill it in. I bought it when I was 22 so should be a bit more interesting then the 'I'm 50, got too much money, kids and bought the 1150 because I wanted to be like Ewan.'

:thumb

:troll2

Snap, I was 22 when I bought my 1100, all my rice cooker mates spat at it when I first arrived at a motocross meeting on it..... Now they all want one........

I've sent my reply. I'd like to think that any member of the forum, journalist or not, who asks for help would get it. If you don't want to reply then ignore it. There is really no need to have a go and is only likely to get us a bad press. Too many people think BWM riders are stuck up already :(

For my part I felt I needed to put an apology in my reply for the response that Khal got :o - he's only trying to do his job!

Did you also bring an apple

Ah yeah, big Rod.

See next issue for more crashes at Donington...

I like Bike magazine and see no need to be offish, I'm sure the Mag on it's own does more for bikers than any one of us individually, and therefore I have sent my questionaire off.

Why? He's not teaching me anything, he's asked for my help as far as I can see :nenau

He writes for a bike publication that is reasonably responsible. They seem to give balanced opinions are not of the opinion that only sports bikes are any good. He is doing research to ensure he gets a balanced opinion on the 1150. I don't see why we should be rude to him - or reply using poor grammar and spelling :nenau

Got an R1150GS and a GSXR600K1 and love them both! :thumb Will fill in your questionairre when I've a bit more time :thumb

This thread could so easily have read along the lines -
"Hi I'm Khal, would anyone like to help me with my research for an article on the1150".....
"Yeah sure Khal, whaddya wanna know?"....
"Well I've got a list of questions for you".....
"OK then sounds good, this is what we think of our beloved 1150's"
But instead there is, with a few exeptions, a pile of whinging and sniping. Fecking get a life, join in the fun, be nice and enjoy the opportunity to voice your thoughts about your bike in the longest serving bike mag out there :thumb
Maybe I'm weird and should go and stand in a corner for a while :nenau
