Do you take your tyres off while you're at work?

I'm worried that someone might steal my tyres when I leave the bike outside work, and am considering taking them in to the building with me.

Should I take just the tyres or should I take the wheels as well?

Mind you, I'm now starting to worry about the screen.

And the fuel tank.

And the seat.

And the bulbs.

My work building follows a 'no tyre' policy so leave them in the lobby, within the security guards eyeshot. On casual fridays I bring in the TKCs.

I've been worried that someone may nick the air in my tyres, so let them down as soon as I arrive and keep the air in a condom.

This does create a slight problem though....I use my bike for working so invested in an electric pump as I couldn't get the air from the now used condom back into my tyre:blast

Sucking air out of a used condom is not a good look :D

I can understand your concern re your tyres.

As the wheels and the other components are 1200 bits they are most certainly completely safe. I'd not even bother to take the key out.:)

In an early attempt at recycling, I tried stretching the condom full of tyre air over the inlet of my pump but it split:blast

Probably no bad thing, as I still like to change the air regularly even though the tyres are now fully run in:thumb

Of course you get better results if you use a proper foot pump, like I do:

Some of these still have original 1940s air in them. Not so many pollutants, you see, so better springiness...

+1 nobody is going to steal a 1200 !!!!

Very nice but I think you southerners still had smog in the '40s, I wouldn't risk that air in a modern tubeless tyre:eek:
Of course if it was a coastal air it may still be ok....risky IMO.

I used to take mine off at work but I had problems putting it back together at the end of a long work day,

I was getting two tyred

Now where's that coat:blast

I can't believe you've been stupid enough to leave your tyres on at work. Of course you should take them off.

That's total bollox, tyres and wheels are too big for anyone to nick, and the air is free, so it's second hand value is next to worthless.

However you should really be worried about the tread, that's what they'll go for, rare as rocking horse droppings, and so fetches a premium at the pikey camps :augie

Awesome

Ha - from the serious to the not so serious.

Possibly the best thread I have looked at in years.

Toady - you really do take `they'll nick `owt round here` to the extreme.

I even love the comments about the 1200 being not worth nicking - I have 2 so boy I feel double safe!

I guess the 1150 is much more desirable save the problem of making a fast gataway...............:hide

:D
