Doc does Spain with our lass

Bloody hell lads that was an atrocious ride from Plymouth. Heavy rain and motorway like a river in places. Anyway arrived at digs at 7.30.
Our lass is a trooper. Weather not looking good for tomorrow either.
I deserve this and G & T for our lass. Hair problems.

She’s a trooper alright @Doc. Unfortunately going all the way south is a problem for us Northerners if wanting to cross the channel. As you usually do I try to use the North Sea ferries. We’ll be using the Hull-Rotterdam ferry in January. As we will in June/July for a bike trip. There will be around 12 bikes again next time. We used the Eurostar this time
.and it’s a lot easier than driving or riding down south.
Hope it stayed reasonably dry for your trip back up North.

And thought i would do a travel essential for you intrepid travellers.
Wet wipes.
Good for.
Sticky fingers. :augie
And if you get cut short. Scraping your arse along the grass like a dog doesn't work. Trust me it makes the situation worse. 🤣

Yup. I always have these but only recently. Pal of mine often gets caught short. Needed a crap in Germany by the road side but no paper. I did have the usual kitchen wet wipes with me for visor, flies etc. He used them and burnt his “ring” because of the chlorine content. Nuff said.

Brilliant, although if needed an emergency stop he may have already had the start of ring sting!

I kept an eye out for you this morning.
I left Droitwich at 5am and drove up the M5 & M6 to Manchester.
I was going to give you a wave.

Sad but true. Which is why we nearly always stumped up for the DFDS ferry from Newcastle. Although euro bike trips are now a thing of the past, the traffic and driving in the south is so awful as to remove any pleasure in the journey, certainly on a bike, but even in a car.
Just did a dash from E Sussex to home(Perth/Angus border) in the car and it's not really until Lancaster that there is any let up in traffic, with only the M6 toll offering a short respite!
The new proposed ferry from Rosyth may offer an alternative if it ever gets going, and I would happily pay a premium to avoid travelling through the south.
As far as bike trips, I'm glad I can enjoy other folks journeys by following their reports....thanks!

And back home safe & sound.
A fantastic trip and thanks everyone for getting involved and hope you've enjoyed my take on a trip report.
Would i go back to Spain yes but I'll never again ride to Plymouth. I would rather ride from Rotterdam.
Think we made the most of our time there and really enjoyed it.

Total miles 3255

Thanks @Doc for the trip report. Great pics from your lass too. I’m certain agreement with you about using the North sea ferry and riding down to Spain from Rotterdam. The ride back up home does spoil the trip home.

It was horrendous and if we did it in one on the way from Plymouth a lot of it would be in the dark and our lass is not keen travelling on the bike in the dark so we don't.

Got sent a couple of pics from a couple we met. He was using a Insta 360.
He was showing me his videos. What a great bit of kit.
I think Doc does videos is a step to far.

I bought one of those recently as well. Indeed great bit of kit and it took a bit of time getting to know the software but it’s really worth it Chris!

I like that it was a extended mount and you don't see it. Video quality was great. I do have a gopro but it's a older one.
