As the Swiss Vignette can be a sticker bought at a petrol station, there is no central database of compliant vehicles. They have an e-vignette system but it is not universal so prosecutions by post are not viable, yet.
You will only be prosecuted for not having a vignette if you are stopped. They have routine checks at some border crossings like Basel and Geneva where you can be prosecuted if leaving the motorway or directed to a tea hut to buy a vignette on entering. If you were not joining or leaving a motorway at a major tourist crossing then you are likely to get away with it.
Of course, you could be stopped for some other offence by a police car and prosecuted for no vignette but like other countries, encountering a police car in the wild is a rare occurrence as speeding offences are mostly enforced by cameras.
