As some of you may know, last year I rode from Southwest Germany to the Black Sea. On the way, I visited the orphanage and school for mentally handicapped children in Calarasi, Moldova - an experience which prompted me to do something to help the poor kids there. To be able to raise some money for them, I decided to write a book about motorcycling in Eastern Europe, which of course includes the ride from Bühl to Calarasi and back.

I now need support from the UKGS'ers. Hopefully, you’ll support my chosen cause by buying a book. Actually, don't think of it as buying a book, but giving money to a poor orphanage and getting the book for free! I am paying all of the printing costs myself, so that every single penny/cent earned from the €15 (approx. GBP 12) cover price can go directly to the orphanage.

The main book data is as follows:

126 pages, printed on high quality art paper
82 colour photographs
11 maps
English language
Every single cent of the €15,00 cover price goes to the orphanage in Calarasi

For more information on the book and a couple of extracts, please go to http://www.jeder-kilometer-zaehlt.de/EN.html and click on “News”. For more information on the orphanage, click on “Orphanage” or have a look at this post:

Please PM me if you want to contribute!

Thank you in advance for your kind support!

Dave

Thanks to those that have ordered so far. I had to rent a small truck to go to the post office today :augie (I wish!) (A skatebord would have been sufficient ;) )

I just wanted to let you guys know that books are now on their way to you. Only another 128 books to go before I've exhausted my stock :thedummy

Thank you kindly for rounding up the amount - this means more money for the orphanage :thumb2

Great stuff

Mine arrived today, started to read when I got in from work and I'm half way through. Good write up and excellent pictures.
Thanks Dave.

Books arrived safe and sound, cheers Dave :clap

Thanks for that John - I can at least now estimate the postage time.

Thanks for not telling the world it's rubbish :augie Seriously, I appreciate the kind words :D

Book now comes with free sticker!

I've just got a new stash of stickers, so that every book sold will now contain one. Due to a limited supply at the beginning, not all books had one supplied. If you bought a book without one and feel that you can't live without it, please send me a PM and I'll post one off.

The logo is as below, with the text "Ich helfe mit!" (I'm helping!) alongside.

P.S. The yellow is a good match to that used on the 1200GS:augie
