Hi folks
I've not posted on here for ages but thought that I best do so after the day I've had.
Take this as a warning.

I filled up at Bradford Buttershaw Tesco's yesterday, 30.34 litres in my 08 GSA and since then my bike had started running like a three legged dog and stalling while idling.
I called the nice chap Dan at Alan Jeffries and he said the same thing as the Haynes Manual - bad fuel.
So I've had the tank off and drained it completely, then popped to the local Esso to get a 5 litre container filled with super unleaded.
I've put her back together and after 5 mins idling with the occasional blip of the throttle she now runs fine (phew).
I'm still on hold (have been for 30 mins and 39 secs at time of writing) to Tesco's customer services (option 5 if you've got a fuel query) and I'm hoping to get reimbursed my £32.74 and something for my time.

Oh just got through to someone I need to go back to the Tesco's store and fill in a CVDR (Customer vehicle damage report) Form.
If it turns out there's been more than just me complaining about this then I'm likely to get my money back for fuel and recompense for any damage done to my bike.

Take care all.

Is that return to the Tesco Station you filled up in or your local one? (may be the same one for you?) The one you filled up in may be 30 miles away :blast

Same one I filled up in, which isn't too far away, about 6 miles.

Been back there and got a stroppy old bitch telling me "If we'd got problems with the fuel then loads of people would have been back by now as we get through 1/4 million litres a week, it's not the fuel" then proceded to get out the wrong form (Injury report form) and tell me it doesn't matter as it all gets inputted into the computer, really really stroppy actually. If she'd been a bloke with that attitude I would have put him on his arse.

Not impressed at all. Realy bad service, espeially considering this is essentially a complaint.
I'm thinking of calling Tesco's customer services again.

what do you expect from Bradford Buttershaw all you have to do is look at the estate across the road she maybe was a bloke  once :augie

feel like a bit of a div now, just filled her up at an esso station with 97 octave super expensive unleaded and the bike is still making the knocking noise, on the way home.:augie
The bike isn't cutting out at low rev's anymore though or back firing, just still knocking a bit.
Wondering if it'll sort itself out. I've got a fairly decent ride on Thursday (about 150 miles round trip) so hopefuly she'll sort herself out during that.

Was a noticable improvement straight away with the bike after putting different fuel in...but the knocking is still there..sparks are all fine...timing maybe? There's no ticking noise so I'm not expecting it to be valves.

:eek:that's brave - I'd not go near Buttershaw on the bike let alone leave it to go and pay for fuel.

Mind you maybe the scallies did try to take it but knew the fuel was bad so left it there:augie:augie

Hope you get it sorted WorkyTicket

As for "Woodside" and "Buttershaw" I have some GOOD mates that live on both these estates, hard working law abiding citizens, which I think you'll find most of the residents are!

Don't tar everyone with the same brush!.....OH and I live in BRADFORD and proud of it!!

Set trading standards on them. I got a full refund when I got 40l in my car, which is normally a 37l fill, and found it was only about half full after that.

You've already got evidence via the report, so TS turn up and check stuff pissing them about. They work on tipoffs, not enough resouce to periodically inspect all filling stations.

Won't get the bike 100% but some small satisfaction when they get shutdown to test the fuel hopefully.

I've never had problems with the bike running badly on Tesco petrol but I always seem to loose 20 miles per tankful with it. I avoid it unless desperate. My car runs OK on it but it doesn't suit the the GS at all. Other supermarket petrol seems OK. I understand Tesco add 5% bioethanol to their petrol and ethanol does not have the calorific value of proper hydrocarbons.

I filled my 1150 with fuel from a cheapo garage and within a few miles it was running rough. Coincidence....I think not.
Took me a good few months to sort, but eventually traced to a fried llamda (O2) sensor.
If the problem persists get BM to run a diagnostics check (would've saved me much grief :blast)

Sorry to confuse you Terry, it was just a little 'Yorkshire dialect' but I'm glad it amused you....little things blah blah :augie
