Hang on a minute folks, I've tried to get to the bottom of this and was trying to clear up what and who was involved, not accuse anyone. Just getting the facts straight Stolzy and Virtually.
From the description it appears to be Nick's wife, or his sister who were involved, neither of whom work at TT in the UK in any sort of service customer facing role, if at all actually, one helped with the books and the other, well it's hard to say. In both cases, certainly nothing since I joined last October. One is back in London and the other is a full time Mom and has been for a year.
On the original occurrence, it appears to have taken place prior to moving to the new premises, so that's 2 years ago. And this is the story I've heard: The parts had been in the shop for many months following the customer's order (so not charged) the order itself had been cancelled and re-ordered, then cancelled again. When the guy called round, the shop was closed, and Nick's wife opened up for him, but as she wasn't staff at the time and still isn't, didn't know how to handle the customer's request, so asked him to call back after the Bank Holiday. That's all I've got on this one.
Now Virtually, seems you've got something I need to look into as well.
You will find that some of the new products in the catalogue are not available immediately. This is because the catalogues are produced for the world to coincide with the Autumn bike shows. Some of the products that will come out during the year's lifecycle of the catalogue are at the time of the catalogue going to press and being issued free of charge, still in final stages of testing, but as I'm sure you'll understand, we can't print another 1000 page catalogue for hundreds of thousands of customers around the world, just to add 5 or 6 additional products.
As for promising more than can be delivered upon, remember Jonathan that in the UK this has been a two man band with a couple of part timers for many years and personally considering the demand and the initial poor delivery from Germany, they did damn well to supply so much kit to so many people. Take a look when you are out and about, for two guys to have been able to support so many GS riders is pretty good.
We don't have a Dakar team to support either, so not sure what that refers to. What we do support is a lot of the charity riders. Didn't Sibersky get some support help too? Before my time, so I don't know.
